My primary responsibilities on this project were the implementations of the UI, Animations, Sounds, Quests, and Chest Mechanics.
- Designing and implementing retention mechanics like quests and gatcha rewards.
- Creating player feedback/juiciness to make the interactions feel good.
- Coming up with different biomes and gnome types to add customization to the game.
Trying to design to meet metrics can be detrimental to a game. With this game we were so focused on trying to meet set metric goals that we lost sight of making a good game. This lead to a game that felt like it was checking all the boxes, but in the end wasn't checking any because we didn't focus on making a solid game first.
